For 7 years now I have been using Nextcloud as an open source platform on a converted laptop. Nextcloud runs on the laptop under Ubuntu 20.0.4 with a hard disk raid of 2 HDDs and has a total of 1.5 TB of storage space. Google Drive currently charges 9.99€ per month or 99.99€ per year for 2TB. Consequently, I have already saved 700 € and learned a lot about cloud development and unix in general as well as about data storage.
