At this point, I would like to present my first major project, which I initiated at my high school almost 4 years ago. With the project "STRG-Schulapp - Finally into the future" I was awarded the 1st place at regional level and the 2nd place at state level in the field of "Arbeitswelt" at Jugend Forscht. I developed and designed an Android app with an online tool called "MIT App Inventor" to make the everyday life of students, teachers and parents at my high school easier.
The app allows the students of my high school, to quickly access important dates, substitution-, room-, lesson- and exam schedules, their personal grade overview, a grade calculator as well as the possibility to "call in sick" from class by parents, teachers or themselves (if they are atleast 18). The room, lesson, and exam schedules as well as the personal sick note are the biggest advantages besides the quick access to the features mentioned above. Since the first release in the Google Play Store on January 18, 2017, my app has already been installed 1600 times and is currently actively used by about 270 people (50%of the school).
During the development of the app, I fully exploited the capabilities of MIT App Inventor to present the content in a user-friendly way. With a drop-down menu, a signature field for the sick note and a status query of the substitution plan.
However, after 4 years I see the app as very outdated and thought about redeveloping the app completely with using Android Studio in Java.
